How To Skyrocket Your LinkedIn
Feb 25, 2024
So many people underuse their LinkedIn and that makes them miss out on so many amazing opportunities. Don't be one of them (or at least, not anymore!). LinkedIn is your online business card, your digital reputation. You want to get noticed, but only if your profile is optimised. Which is what I want to talk about with you today.
Name, tagline and profile photo
Fill out your full name so that people can find you easier on this platform. Your tagline should not only be what you do, but also what you can offer others. And always make sure that you have a professional profile photo. People without a profile photo will receive 86% less invites, because it can look like you haven't touched the profile in years and you might not use it anymore.
LinkedIn banner
So many people skip the option to put a LinkedIn banner, while this can be such an eye-catcher! You can create one easily in Canva and just upload it on your profile.
About me
Use your about me section to tell them more about you. How did you get to where you are today and where do you want to go?
This is such an important section of your profile, because it really tells people about who you are and it gives them the idea already if you would be a right fit.
Work experience
Make sure that you have all your work experience in this section and it is obvious what your main tasks and responsibilities were. Write them out in bulletpoints so it's easy to read.
Also, what a HUGE advantage is, use numbers when writing about your achievements.
Education
My recommendation about your education is don't write down studies you started and didn't finish (unless you did it for 3 years and had to quit before your last year, so you have the most fundamentals of that study). So if you quit during the first year, then I would suggest you not writing it down. Definitely write down the education that you finished, what diploma it got you and also if you did extra courses during that study.
Skills
In the skills section you can highlight your most important skills you need for the role you're aiming for. This is not just for technical skills, but also the soft skills, like certain languages you speak or certain conversation skills you have. These skills can also be endorsed by others.
Recommendations
The recommendation section can really be of good use. Other people you've worked for (or with) in the past could write a recommendation about you. How they've experienced working with you and what you're good at. Use these and also give the recommendations back when you receive them.
Now you know what sections you have to fill out to make your LinkedIn profile stand out more to recruiters and hiring managers. If you need more information, knowledge and advice on this, sign up for my webinar where I'm telling you even more!
